- Spray the bottom of a 9" square baking pan with baking spray.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together water, egg, melted butter and instant coffee granules.
- Add in brownie mix and stir together until batter is completely wet.
- Gently stir in chopped walnuts and chocolate chips.
- Pour into 9" baking pan and bake for approximately 40-45 minutes. (Check it at 40 minutes).
- Cool on rack until brownies come to room temperature. Cut into 25 squares (They will be very rich!)
- NOTE: How to toast walnuts. Heat oven to 300 degrees. Coarsely chop walnuts and put in a single layer on a baking pan. Bake for 4-5 minutes. Remove the nuts from the oven and pour them onto a plate (paper plate is good) so that they don't continue to bake in the hot pan. Allow to cool thoroughly before using.
